African Imperialism Part 1

  1. The Industrial Revolution was a period in Great Britain, where businesses boomed, jobs were in surplus, and economic growth ensued. With this, came the idea of laissez-faire,(meaning let people do as they wish,) or Capitalism; an economic system which proposed the idea of businesses having no govt involvement. With all this success, came a need for resources and cheap labor. And there just so happens, that there was in fact a continent with both: Africa. This huge continent had key points needed for any ongoing industrialized country. A coastline for trading, many resources, and great places for trading, like the "Suez Canal". In short, Africa was a the fuel needed for the fire, that is:The IndustrialRev

5. I do believe that Imperialism is in fact inevitable. Because,it is in human nature to expand on power that is already obtained. Even if it means crushing other people along the way. Though this may be wrong, I do not think we should strive for pure equality of power and wealth. Why? Because this eliminates individuality, and when other people have something more than another person, they work to gain more than the person ahead of them. This betters the economy and society as a whole. However, the case differs for control of another country, because then ethics comes into play.
